Tattoo Designs
If you walk into a tattoo studio, you can easily see that there are virtually no limits to tattoo designs. Most studios have a plethora of books, posters, and stencil samples; and, as the work of a tattoo artist is much more than simply putting designs on a person's skin, most are very skilled and very talented artists in general. Nearly anything you can visualize, either by description or in a sketch, can be made into a unique creation by those who practice this form of art. While many customers prefer a tattoo which is either quite simple and basic, such as one's name or initials, or a design which is totally unique and special to them, there are a number of styles which are widely popular.
Tribal Tattoo
The tribal tattoo was one of the first tattoos ever created, and was first an art form among tribes in the South Seas, including Polynesians as well as some tribal groups in the Taiwan, Philippines, Africa, North America, South America, Europe, Japan, Cambodia, and New Zealand. Today, the tribal tattoo is still worn to honor those who wore them before as well as for personal style.
Chinese Character Tattoo
Chinese character tattoos are also known as kanji tattoos, and they consist of tattoos depicting Chinese letters or phrases. Some people wear them as a means of rememberance or to express a personal feeling. Caution must be taken for those that wish to get a Chinese character tattoo, as there are letters and characters that look alike, but have very different meanings. Some meanings can not be taken at face value, as they have different colloquial translations.
Celtic Tattoos
Pre-Christian Germanic, Celtic and other central and northern European tribes were often tattooed, and today, Celtic tattoos pay homage to ancestors of many years ago. Many Celtic tattoos are religious-based, with crosses being a favorite choice. There are thousands of elaborate Celtic designs from which to choose, and they can be found in many colors, with green a favorite of many.
